Expected Value is the average value you can expect to pull from a product if you opened it many times. If EV is higher than the sealed price, it is mathematically profitable to open. If EV is lower, you should keep it sealed as it will likely appreciate over time.
How accurate are your simulations?
We use real pull rates from community data and live market prices updated daily from Cardmarket. Our Monte Carlo simulations run 10,000 iterations to provide statistically significant results. However, individual results will vary!
Where do you get your data?
Pull rates come from community sources like PokeData.io. Card prices are automatically updated daily from Cardmarket via the Pokemon TCG API. Sealed product prices are fetched from current market listings.
Should I always open if EV is positive?
Not necessarily! EV is the average across many openings. Individual results vary greatly. Consider factors like: joy of opening, time to list cards for sale, market volatility, and your risk tolerance. Use our tool as one data point in your decision.
